About this deal

But the film was not meant for such as I; a male so close to retirement age that I will still be drawing down my 'free bus pass' in a couple of short months. In the ruins of the land formerly known as North America, the annual Hunger Games are about to get under way – and 16-year-old contender Katniss Everdeen has only the remotest chance of beating the fearsome odds.

In 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1' (2014) Katniss finds herself in the underground District 13, struggling to adjust to her new life and role as the Mockingjay in the rebellion against the Capitol and President Snow. With Katniss as their leader, the citizens of Panem unite in battle against the Capitol in an attempt to bring down the autocratic President Snow (Donald Sutherland) once and for all.The impressive line-up is joined by The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 co-stars Academy Award-winner Julianne Moore, Mahershala Ali, Natalie Dormer and Gwendoline Christie. I bought this 'compilation' as something to watch while I spent a solitary, lockdown Christmas Day in preference to rewatching 'Mission Impossible 1-4' or my 'Cary Grant Collection'. These are the Hunger Games -- an intense gladiatorial competition between 24 adolescent warriors known as Tributes, broadcast live on TV until only one survivor remains . Every year, the all-powerful ruling agency known as the Capitol selects one boy and one girl from each of Panem's 12 impoverished rival districts to fight to the death on live national television in a contest known as 'The Hunger Games', in which the winner is given food to feed their entire district for a year.

Every year, on Reaping Day, each of the districts must choose, by lottery or volunteer, one boy and one girl to represent them in the Capitol’s twisted idea of grand entertainment that proves its total control, while also giving the famished populace the faintest ray of hope to hang onto. In 'The Hunger Games' (2012) Jennifer Lawrence stars as 16-year-old Katniss Everdeen, a citizen of the totalitarian post-apocalyptic country of Panem, formerly the United States. Uniting their instinc ts for showmanship and political savvy, they race against time to ultimately reveal who's a songbird and who's a snake. Says director Francis Lawrence: “In this film, Katniss takes the action back into her own hands and goes after Snow personally. And yet, for all of its 'faults' (to my mind at least), I found it oddly engaging and worthy of recommendation, if you like that sort of thing. With the 10th annual Hunger Games fast approaching, the young Snow becomes alarmed when he's assigned to mentor Lucy Gray Baird from District 12. Like most of the nation of Panem, Katniss lives in one of twelve enslaved districts, ruled over by a mystery-shrouded Capitol, which after decades of chaos and war, now suppresses the people under the thumb of a harsh yet decadent dictatorship.

But soon after, while on a victory tour of the other districts, she becomes aware of growing dissent to the Capitol's rule and realises that rebellion is in the air. When her younger sister Primrose (Willow Shields) is selected as a contestant, Katniss steps up to take her place in the match. The novel on which the film is based is the third in a trilogy written by Suzanne Collins that has over 65 million copies in print in the U.com et faire livrer leurs commandes à n’importe quelle adresse ou n’importe quel magasin aux États-Unis. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part l is the highly-anticipated third installment of the blockbuster phenomenon that blazed across movie screens around the globe. Under the leadership of President Coin (Julianne Moore) and the advice of her trusted friends, Katniss spreads her wings as she fights to save Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) and a nation moved by her courage. I immediately found myself captivated by the beautiful cinematography and background theme and despite the over-the-top and ridiculous costumes and makeup of the people in The Capitol I decided to continue watching. The mortal traps, enemies, and moral choices that await Katniss will challenge her more than any arena she faced in The Hunger Games.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 is directed by Francis Lawrence from a screenplay by Danny Strong and Peter Craig and produced by Nina Jacobson's Color Force in tandem with producer Jon Kilik. In the final instalment, 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2' (2015), citizens of Panem, with Katniss as their leader, unite in battle against the Capitol in an attempt to bring down President Snow once and for all. Faced with the most daunting odds - and watched by the eyes of a hopeful nation - Katniss must put into motion courage, strength and empowerment against the all-powerful Capitol. Jennifer Lawrence stars as 16-year-old Katniss Everdeen, a citizen of the totalitarian post-apocalyptic country of Panem, formerly the United States.Jennifer Lawrence is pretty enough (not beautiful) to engage but Sutherland gives a masterclass, as Coriolanus Snow, in soft-spoken 'under-acting'.
